Julep Kelly Swatch PLUS quick mani

Here's a swatch of Julep Kelly for you. It's very light with salmon undertones. This took three coats. I don't think it flatters my skin tone. Also, I can't ever wear just a plain mani. It's too boring! So I put one coat of Sally Hansen Strobe Light and now I love it! What do you think?

Nail of the Day

Here's today's mani using my brand new Julep Emma and Sally Hansen Black Out. I stamped with Bundle Monster BM11.

March 2012 Julep American Beauty

What??? March Julep on February 28th?

That's right, folks! One of the perks of living in the next city over. :)

This month, we got Emma, Kelly, and Organic Moroccan Argan Oil. Oh, and a bonus nail file! That's almost the best part since I was just about to buy a new one. :)

Emma (left, below) is a light pink with a shimmer finish. I just threw it on and you can see VNL, so I will probably layer it over something in the future or use it for a french mani with a twist.

Kelly (right, above) is a very, very light salmon. It looks very similar to Jennifer. In the photos, Jennifer looks darker than in real life.

Here are some side-by-side pics including Jennifer.

Lastly, we got a nice-sized bottle of Organic Moroccan Argan Oil. On the bottle, it says to apply daily to hair, nails, and skin for healthy, youthful, and radiant results.

I'm doing a mani with Emma tonight, so I'll post pics later!

Birchbox February 2012

Very lucky day at my house! Birchbox AND MyGlam came in the mail!

I am a little disappointed with Birchbox this month. I feel I got my money's worth, but I liked the December box WAY better.

Here's the info for this month's Birchbox:

Just because it's in a fancy box, doesn't make a perfume sample any less lame. Perfume samples are a dime a dozen! I get three every time I make an order on Sephora.com! Really? Perfume? Nobody wants this in a paid sample box. Just sayin'.

A mattifying face cream. Siiigh. If you read my earlier post, you'll see we also got a mattifier from MyGlam. It's not really the company's fault...but I DID fill out a profile that says I have dry skin! So why the mattifying lotion?

Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint. Now THIS I am excited about. I loved the Jouer lipgloss from the December box so I'm excited to try a different product from the same brand. The tube is a little small, but if it's well-made and truly moisturizing then a little may go a long way. I won't know on that until I try it, though!

Powdered mouthrinse. I will probably give these to my husband. He travels a lot and it's mouthwash that's not a liquid! Cool! I'll let you know if he tries them.

Super-Duper Excited about this!!! Press on eye-liner?? Whaaaa??? My husband is taking me on a hot date this weekend and I will be trying these for it. I want to do a smoky eye and what better to polish it off than pre-packaged perfect eyeliner! Perhaps I'll film it so everyone can see how easy--or hard--it is to apply!

And some tunes... I haven't downloaded them yet, but I will. I'm never one to say "no" to free music!

Thanks for reading!! Have a wonderful day!

MyGlam February 2012

It was my lucky day! I received Birchbox AND MyGlam in the mail today!!!
Here are the pics from the MyGlam bag. I have mixed emotions. I think the bag is the cutest one so far. I wish there was more actual makeup, though! I'm a little sad that there is an acne product as well. But, I guess that means I can just give it to someone!

Here's the bag with the ad inserts:

All the products together:

X-Out shine control. It's a nice sized sample, but I already have dry skin. The last thing I need is something absorbing my natural oils! Stay tuned because I'll send this to one of you!

Yummers!!! This is one of the best chocolate brands EVER! It's a nice little treat!

A 1-2 use packet of Goji Berry Hydrating Mask. Kind of the opposite of the shine control, huh? Hahahaha. This is one I need! I liked the Cucumber Peel mask from last month so I bet I'll like this. They must love Freeman brand!

Dead Sea Mask and Moisturize. One time use samples. I have no thoughts on this as of yet. Although, I like bigger samples for moisturizers. It's hard to tell if you like it when you only get to try it once.

NYX roll on shimmer in purple. This COULD be useful. I am happy that the only make up product this month is full size. I may attempt to use this as an eyeshadow...we'll see...

Thanks for reading!

Nail of the Day

I had a quick trip to Sally Beauty and picked up some great colors! I always have a hard time picking colors out... Which is why it love Julep... But I think I faired pretty well on my own! This is some Konad stamping done with Orly Royal Navy and Orly Dazzle.

Royal Navy has some pretty shimmer to it that refused to pick up in these pictures!

I used Konad zebra stripes.

Sally Hansen Strobe Light Swatch

My wonderful husband bought me a new polish today at the store! He even helped me pick it out. :) I got Sally Hansen Strobe Light and it's very pretty! I swatched it plain, over white, and over black so you could see how this guy reacts layered. I like it the best over black, so I decided to do the whole mani that way. My husband liked the plain the best. Oh well! Can't win 'em all! :)

Beauty Army February 2012

I got my February Beauty Army box in the mail today!! Thank you, Mr. Postman!
Here's a picture of everything that came in my box for this month.
Here's a close-up of the sunscreen. The nail polish is there for reference purposes so you can see the size. It did NOT come in the box. :)

Here's a picture of the StriVectin stretch mark remover.

Here's the LaRocca exfoliater.   If you read earlier posts, you know that I did not like the LaRocca pumpkin body scrub. I decided to try the brand again this month so I could know for sure if it's the brand I don't like or if it was just that one product.

This is the Indie Lee Shampoo. It smells great! The smell is just fresh and clean. I think this is the product I'm most excited about this month.

Next, we have the Blingtone Eyeshadow in purple haze. It's really pretty! I was very happy with the brown Blingtone eyeshadow I picked last month. It does have a lot of glitter in it, though, so it's not something I'd recommend wearing to an office-style workplace. But this guy is really fun for the weekends!

Here is the face lotion. It smells rather nice and seems to have a nice consistency. I won't really know if it works for me until I put it on my very dry face. :)

If you haven't tried Beauty Army yet, I would highly suggest it! Their customer service is great (it seems like they have a full-time person JUST to response to Facebook questions!) and it's great they let you pick your samples for the month. You pick six samples from 9 choices. They haven't had any shipping issues so far, which is amazing considering they only started up the program last month. It seems like it's been the smoothest launch out of all the beauty subscription services!!!

Thanks for reading! Have a great day!
