Julep Ellie Mani

Here's a mani I did using Julep Ellie. She's very sheer so needs some 'underwear'. I used Julep January as a base color and I love the results!
It's a dark, yet bright, pink that has a holo effect.

Beauty Bar Sample Society May 2012

I have received my May 2012 Sample Society box from Beauty Bar. To be upfront, I have already cancelled my subscription and this will be my last month. I just haven't been that impressed. It doesn't offer me anything that I don't already get from all the other sample subscriptions. In fact...I've already received some dupes. Who wants to pay for the same stuff?! Since this is the most expensive one, I decided it had to go.

Here's what we got:

On the left, you can see that we got a makeup poof. Also, Strivectin. I already got this in a Beauty Army box. I wasn't impressed at all. I saw no difference in my stretch marks so to me, this is a total waste.

A perfume sample. No comment.

Stila mascara.

Bamboo UV+ that is basically hair sunscreen.

Birchbox May 2012

:( :( :( :(

the above emoticons represent how I feel about Birchbox this month. It was supposed to be a Gossip Girl themed box. I have NO CLUE how these products relate to Gossip Girl in ANY way.

Here's what we got:

First up, Ojon conditioner...

Then we have a perfume sample!!! UGH! Barf! STOP IT!

Next, a Lip Fusion Lip Blam. I got a balm in last month's Birchbox! WTF? If I wanted this much lip balm, I'd drive 2 miles to Costco.

Finally, a tiny sample of Caudalie hand and nail cream. It's actually not THAT tiny of a sample, but relative to the samples usually send for lotion, it is small.

And that IS IT. I'm serious. I am not hiding anything from you.

Disappointing, right? Where's the lipgloss that Blake Lively wears? Where's the knock-you-down mascara that Blaire wears?

How is this Gossip Girl?!

Julep Fina Swatch

Here is a swatch of Julep Fina. I didn't really like it at first, but it grew on me. :) It's a silvery, metallic light blue. I almost think it'd be better for a winter color! What do you think?

Julep Sarah Swatch

Here's why I love Julep: They send me polishes that I'd never pick out on my own and 99% of the time I freaking love them! I swatched Sarah today to "get it over with" and I love it! It's a beautiful coral-ly pink with multi colored glitters. It's amazing how a polish I didn't think I would like will become one of my go-to faves!

Julep Kylie

Here's a swatch of Julep Kylie, their new magnetic polish. I think it looks a little too tie-dye to me. I wish the magnetic parts were a darker color than the polish rather than lighter. Oh well! I think it's a pretty polish on its own and I'll probably wear it without taking advantage of the magnet.

Julep Maven American Beauty May 2012

I came home today to my second Julep Maven box. This style is American Beauty.
As with the other styles, I got a foot file, pedi prep, and two polishes. These polishes are Kylie and Ellie. Kyle is the magnetic one. It looks really pretty. The only thing I notice is that the packaging on Kylie doesn't indicate that it's magnetic at all. So...once it gets merged into my collection, how am I supposed to remember that's the magnetic one? I wish Julep would have put some sort of marking on the bottle. Oh well! I still love the colors! Kylie is the purple one at the bottle and Ellie is the metallic pearl.
